Guru Gobind Singh Ji, the 10th guru of Sikh was born on 22 December, 1666 at Harimandir, Patna Sahib and survived in an awfully perilous time. It was at the time when all the reign was under Mughal emperor Aurangzeb.
His father, Guru Teg Bahadur, for the sake of Hindu religion, had given up his own head. Kidnapping of women and stealing of goods were uncontrollable, but the people were too fearful and frightened to oppose. Then Guru Gobind Singh took his position and stood up against the injustice and cruelty. with a great stature as both saint and warrior. He was a leader of rigid religious ethics and strong affection to God.
Additionally, Guru Gobind Singh was a talented intellectual. He was encouraged to write down the different strong pious compositions which include Jaap Sahib.
At the time he was passing away, he taught his Sikhs to consider the Guru Granth Sahib as their educator.
