India is a vast and traditional country; here people of different communities and religions live together with unity. The total geographical area of the country is 3,287,590 sq. km with the total population of more than one billion.
In India people from diverse communities and religion live with harmony. The statistics states that the country has 80% Hindu, 14% Muslim, 2.4% Christian, 2% Sikh, 0.7% Buddhist, 0.5% Jain, Zoroastrian and others 0.4%
Ethnically Indians speak various languages though Hindi is the National Language of the country. However the constitution of India has accepted 18 regional languages. The country enjoys the benefit of the English Language which is being spoken widely.
India has adopted Federal Republic mode of governance where the President is declared the head of the state. The person is the supreme commander of the Indian armed forces. Currently, Mrs. Pratibha Devisingh Patil is the President of the country.
