HIV/AIDS - Acquired immune deficiency syndrome or acquired immunodeficiency syndrome. In India this disease has attacked thousands of the population. People here have very limited knowledge about HIV/AIDS. Reason for this incognizance is that impoverished people in India are living under poverty line and are mostly illiterate one's to understand the causes of AIDS.
People who get infected are often excluded from their own family's. In India, various organizations are working to improve HIV/AIDS awareness. The goal of such organizations is to encourage people to change their attitudes and behavior towards life.
These organizations are involved following worthy activities:
- Blood testing
- Counseling HIV-positive people and their families
- Treatment for HIV-positive patients
- Demonstrating and training about
- HIV/Aids awareness activities
- Some vocational program for the patients
Volunteers working with such organizations educate people about:
- Awareness activities
- Demonstrating of contraceptives; condoms, etc
- Counseling activities
- Preparing and presenting educational programs
