HIV-AIDS Awareness Society

HIV/AIDS - Acquired immune deficiency syndrome or acquired immunodeficiency syndrome. In India this disease has attacked thousands of the population. People here have very limited knowledge about HIV/AIDS. Reason for this incognizance is that impoverished people in India are living under poverty line and are mostly illiterate one's to understand the causes of AIDS.

People who get infected are often excluded from their own family's. In India, various organizations are working to improve HIV/AIDS awareness. The goal of such organizations is to encourage people to change their attitudes and behavior towards life.

These organizations are involved following worthy activities:

• Blood testing
• Counseling HIV-positive people and their families
• Treatment for HIV-positive patients
• Demonstrating and training about
• HIV/Aids awareness activities
• Some vocational program for the patients

Volunteers working with such organizations educate people about:

• Awareness activities
• Demonstrating of contraceptives; condoms, etc
• Counseling activities
• Preparing and presenting educational programs

Wildlife of India

The Republic of India is a sovereign country in South Asia. It is the seventh-largest country by geographical area, the second most populous country. Being a pluralistic, multi-lingual, and multi-ethnic society, India is also home to a diversity of wildlife which consists of around 7.6% of mammals, 12.6% of avian, 6.2% of reptilian, and 6.0% of flowering plant species. Overall, 33% of Indian plant species are endemic.

India's forest cover ranges from the tropical rainforest of the Andaman Islands, Western Ghats, and Northeast India to the coniferous forest of the Himalaya. Between these extremes lie the sal-dominated moist deciduous forest of eastern India; teak-dominated dry deciduous forest of central and southern India; and the babul-dominated thorn forest of the central Deccan and western Gangetic plain. Important Indian trees include the medicinal neem which is used in Indian herbal remedies.
In recent decades, the system of national parks and protected areas is established and in 1935 it was substantially expanded.

In 1972, India enforced the Wildlife Protection Act to safeguard crucial habitat. India now hosts over 500 wildlife sanctuaries, 14 biosphere reserves, four of which are part of the World Network of Biosphere Reserves.

PAWS – Progressive Animal Welfare Society

PAWS is an animal welfare society, protecting animals since 1967. The Society shelters homeless animals, rehabilitates injured and orphaned wildlife, and empowers people to show compassion for animals.

PAWS, the voice for animals in Washington, is a recognized society in the nation for its progressive education programs, wildlife rehabilitation and companion animal services. PAWS is trying to make world a better place for animals to survive.

PAWS foresee this world to be a place where all people recognize the essential value of animal life and choices on animals, and consistently demonstrate their compassion towards them.
